This last month, the Valencian taxi sector has been assessing the new law that the Generalitat intends to publish shortly, called: 12 + 4.

The Taxi Law will state that vehicles with a taxi license, in the city of Valencia, will have to divide their service into two time slots. This way, a taxi driver can work between 6 AM to 2 AM for a maximum of 12 hours; and in case they want to extend the day, it should be done exclusively between 2 AM and 6 AM for a total of 16 hours.

Commitments to face, work schedules incompatible with your personal life, a family at home, friends that are asking for your attention ... these are a part of the daily chores that force us to always look at the clock, trying to stretch and take advantage to the maximum the time we have.

If you stop to think, we all have 24 hours a day and our clocks (analog or digital) move at the same speed. On the other hand, no one, no matter how magic, has the ability to accelerate, shorten or stop time, so we must use what we have in the most effective way possible.

A greater social awareness about the needs of minority groups means greater resources are provided to promote the well-being of the people who are part of said groups.

Currently, one of the areas in which major changes are being made at a social level is related to the group of people with reduced mobility (PRM). That is why, today, reforms are being created in the legislature that regulate the operation of taxis, to make them more accessible to this minority.

Offering a good, safe and quality service requires time, but, above all, a lot of dedication. A special mention is deserved by the wheelchair taxis, in which everything has to be approved, fulfilling the required characteristics, and in which any detail is important.

In the case of our taxi adapted to PRM, we have taken special care in order for the car to be “ready” for our customers. We are talking about people with motor difficulties that have physical peculiarities that we shouldn't forget when managing the adaptations of a vehicle whose purpose is the comfort of our customers.

On 8 of November, The Ministry of Public Works included in the present Taxi Law, the requirement that part of the Valencian taxi fleet must contain a minimum number of vehicles adapted for people with disabilities. To make it effective, they have requested that those owners who have more than one vehicle have to have at least one taxi adapted for the PRM collective.

It is true that, for many colleagues in the sector, this restructuring of the law can cause more than one headache. As indicated in the Las Provincias newspaper, at least 146 vehicles will be affected by this new regulation, as well as probable layoffs or license sales, if the conditions are not met within the established period.
