The new 12 + 4 taxi law

The new 12 + 4 taxi law

This last month, the Valencian taxi sector has been assessing the new law that the Generalitat intends to publish shortly, called: 12 + 4.

The Taxi Law will state that vehicles with a taxi license, in the city of Valencia, will have to divide their service into two time slots. This way, a taxi driver can work between 6 AM to 2 AM for a maximum of 12 hours; and in case they want to extend the day, it should be done exclusively between 2 AM and 6 AM for a total of 16 hours.

The reason for the change

According to the Director of Public Works, Transportation and Mobility, the justification for this change is, on the one hand, to search for a balance in terms of supply and demand for this service and, on the other hand, to improve the rest conditions and to reconcile the working life with the staff / family of these workers. Likewise, they consider that users will be equally favored, since a constant service will be guaranteed avoiding unnecessary waiting.

The consequences

Like any decision that affects a wide sector of people, there are both for and against opinions. What some see as advantages and advances, which we have already talked about previously; others believe that it can harm the worker for various reasons. Among the claims: low profitability in certain time slots, possible layoffs and difficulty adapting to the new rule, especially if they have employees.

Over the next few days, thousands of taxi drivers from both positions will express their interests, trying to reach an agreements that will benefit as many people as possible. During this process, SU TAXI Valencia will continue to offer their services, maintaining the quality and being at your disposal when you need it.
